Spray Gun Module For Coating And Lubricating Tablet Surfaces
The AccuSpray™ magnesium stearate spray system applies a thin, uniform layer of magnesium stearate, a commonly used pharmaceutical excipient, to coat and lubricate tablet surfaces and prevent them from sticking to compression tools during manufacturing. The AccuSpray technology reduces the amount of magnesium stearate used from an average of 100 grams per production hour to as little as 4 grams per hour at full production speed. This reduction provides a cost savings for manufacturers, and produces tablets that are of greater purity and higher quality than those containing larger amounts of magnesium stearate. Furthermore, the force used in the compression machine to eject tablets is reduced, resulting in less wear and tear for a longer lasting machine. The AccuSpray process involves non-continuous spraying of a 10% magnesium stearate/pure ethanol solution onto the upper and lower punch tips as well as the die wall. A patented high-speed Piezo electric pump ensures exact metering of the substance and keeps production rates constant. The magnesium film completely encloses the tablets and comprises only 0.03% of the tablet weight
